Why Do We Seek Validation From Our Peers?

When we park our cars in certain areas, we ask for “validation”. This is to show that we were there for a length of time for a specific reason. Why do we seek validation from our peers? We want them to acknowledge us for what we have said or done, which we believe earned recognition. When we are not validated, we may get the impression that we were not seen or heard. Our confidence level may sink and cause us to lose hope. To recover from this feeling of undervaluation we must reaffirm our beliefs that we put forth our best effort to complete the assignment, task, or fulfill the obligations set before us. Believing in ourselves from the beginning gives us hope. Knowing that we have given our best should relieve us of the need for human validation. Receiving validation is a confidence builder. Someone telling you “Good job, you look great, and fantastic, goes a long way. There is nothing wrong with asking someone, “how am I doing”. Feedback is an excellent motivator and should always be reciprocal. Give someone a compliment today. A great form of self-validation is daily affirmations. Here is one you can use. “I know that today I will be my best and do my best to acknowledge that I gave it my best”.
Have a great day
