I Am Free – And So Are You

There comes a moment when you realize that the greatest prison isn’t made of bars, but of fear, shame, and the expectations of others. For years, I moved cautiously, always checking in with someone else’s opinion, hesitating to fully embrace the joy or the journey that was clearly placed before me by God. But today, I declare: I am free.
Not the kind of freedom that’s dependent on circumstances or geography. Not the kind of freedom that tiptoes around family expectations or waits for permission to bloom. This is God-given freedom the kind that was purchased at a high price and sealed with love.
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” – John 8:36
Whether I’m inside or outside, in Mississippi or Mexico, on stage or in solitude. I am free to be exactly who He called me to be. I cannot, and will not, allow anxiety or hesitation to rob me of the liberty that’s mine in Christ. And if you're reading this and feeling stuck, I want you to know:
You are free too.
Don’t let the voices around you silence the voice within you.
Maybe your family doesn’t understand why you’ve changed. Maybe someone close to you keeps reminding you of who you used to be. Maybe guilt has crept in and made you second-guess what God confirmed. But I want to lovingly remind you: you are not bound to their opinion. You are bound to His calling.
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” – 2 Corinthians 3:17
And His Spirit lives in you.
Today, take one small step toward your freedom. Breathe deeper. Stand taller. Speak louder. Trust Him more. Celebrate your growth. And if you’ve already been set free, don’t shrink back to make others comfortable. Walk confidently. Dance if you feel like it. Rest if He’s told you to. Go where He sends you.
You are not trapped, you are not stuck, you are being are becoming.
Freedom isn’t just something we hope for. It’s something we already have.
So declare it with me: I AM FREE. And I will not be afraid to live like it.
