God Knows Your Name

Samuel had never heard or recognized God’s voice. Samuel thought Eli called out to him. Each time Eli said, it was not him who called Samuel’s name. Once Eli realized God was trying to speak to Samuel he quickly reacted. Samuel is laying in the temple near the Ark, the representation of God but did not recognize the Lord God’s voice. He only responded to the call because Eli instructed him to answer the call from God. God chose Samuel to hear God’s plan for Eli and his family and Eli was adamant about knowing what God said to Samuel. Samuel was not comfortable with sharing the information that could cause Eli misery (1 Samuel 3:1-10).
When God calls on His people to deliver a message they are chosen specifically for that reason. Have you ever heard your name called but no one was around? Or did you answer, and someone said, “I didn’t call you”? Have you ever seen a shadow pass by you, and you felt the presence of the Holy Spirit? Yes, we have all had that feeling that someone is calling our name, or someone is near us in the Spirit. God knows your name. Has God ever spoke to you and given you a message concerning someone close to you? Was the news good or bad? Samuel had a choice to make. When a minister is called to be a preacher God has chosen that person to carry the message of the Gospel. Some say they ran from the calling, not wanting to deliver the messages God has given them. When God has placed a calling on your life you will know you have been chosen to do the work that is required of you.
When God called my husband into the Ministry of the Gospel, I was upset that God did not consult me first. Who am I that God should ask my permission?
We are chosen disciples commanded and called to go forth out into the world to tell people about God’s plan of salvation.
